Yes it's true, Governor Greitens has called a second Extraordinary Session to make good on his promise that "crazy liberals" won't be allowed to create "abortion sanctuary cities" as long as he is in office.

In an announcement last week, the governor ordered the General Assembly to return to the Capitol for a second special session this year to take action on an ordinance approved by St. Louis aldermen in February banning employers and landlords from discriminating against women who have had an abortion, use contraceptives or are pregnant. You can read the text of that ordinance here.

The Governor was motivated to call the special session after a recent ruling by a Federal Judge struck down Missouri abortion laws requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and that clinics meet the same standards as outpatient surgical centers.

As a member of the House Children and Families committee, I will be attending the committee hearing at 10:00am, June 14th (tomorrow). Barring a change in schedule we will meet again, on Monday the 19th to hear the bill coming from the Senate, and the House will be in full session on Tuesday the 20th.

I realize this is short notice, but if you're interested you can contact one of the following organizations to participate:
  • ProgressWomen will be sponsoring a People's Special Session on Wednesday (tomorrow). RSVP HERE to save your seat in one of the bus/carpools from St. Louis.

  • The NCJW (National Council of Jewish Women) and other organizations will be going to Jefferson City this week to testify in hearings and participate in rallies. If you are interested in possibly going to Jefferson City with NCJW please contact Lisa at or 314-993-5181

  • Or just show up on your own. Every voice counts!
As always
Thank you for your support, and for giving me the opportunity to represent you in Jefferson City. Keep in touch!
